Recently, the commencement ceremony of the deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform “Offshore Oil 982” for China Oilfield Services Limited (“COSL”) and the 400-feet Jack-up No. 19 Platform for CNPC Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. was held by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd (“DSIC Offshore”). The smooth going of the deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform “Offshore Oil 982” marks the great breakthrough made by DSIC when it marches into the international field of semi-submersible drilling platform and also betokens a new chapter for transformation and development of the marine industry.
The deepwater semi-submersible drilling platform “Offshore Oil 982” is the first product of the A5000 semi-submersible drilling platform series built by DSIC Offshore. It is a safe, reliable and efficient drilling platform used in the deep sea. The platform is featured by DP3 capability, maximum operating water depth up to 1,500m (5,000 feet) and drilling depth up to 9,144m (30,000 feet). The platform could be used worldwide over the whole year, especially in the South China Sea.
As a product made by DSIC Offshore after it steps into the deep-sea market, the project has attracted high attention and support from the leadership of DSIC and related divisions of DSIC Offshore. For the purpose of ensuring the smooth going of the project, the project team has worked together with designers with stronger confidence to overcome difficulties and has taken the initiative to coordinate resources and seek breakthrough in order to facilitate the stable progress of all phases of the plan. In terms of the subsequent construction, the project team will make every effort to make the “Offshore Oil 982” the best project of all by thorough planning and risk control and support the development of marine platform towards the deep sea field.
The 400-feet Jack-up No. 19 Platform is the first 400-feet jack-up platform that DSIC Offshore has built for CNPC Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. The project has been classified by both ABS and CCS and it is the 19th 400-feet jack-up platform built by DSIC Offshore.
DSIC Offshore has accumulated years of experience by successfully building dozens of 400-feet jack-up series platforms. Compared with previous series, this project not only meets the requirement of being classified by two classification societies but also satisfies more rigorous requirements concerning drilling device configuration and layout, selection of large equipment, selection of piles, specifications, building quality, schedule, costs and etc. It will be a new experience for DSIC Offshore in all aspects including design, purchase, planning& preparation and production management.
